Radiator Fluid Service

Radiator

Radiator fluid, or anti-freeze as it is commonly known, works to combat both heat and cold, ensuring that your engine doesn’t freeze or over-heat and that it operates at its most efficient temperature. Over time, the protective components of this fluid are weakened leading to rust and corrosion forming in the radiator, heater core, and the engine block.

To prevent these problems, the radiator coolant should be changed at regular service intervals as suggested by your car manufacturer. On the older cars that still use the green coolant, it needs to be changed every 2 years.

Two Radiator services are available:

Radiator Service:

  • Visually inspect the radiator, hoses and heater core (where possible)
  • Pressure test the cooling system
  • Pressure test the radiator cap
  • Remove the old coolant in the radiator
  • Refill the system with a approved fluid

Cooling System Service:

  • Add a chemical flushing fluid
  • Test run to normal operating temperature
  • Remove all the old coolant
  • Visually inspect the radiator, hoses and heater core
  • Inspect electric fans and fan clutch
  • Pressure test the system and the radiator cap
  • Refill the system with approved fluid
